MOT failure and advisory repairs—not MOT testing

Failed on brakes, a control arm, a suspension joint or another mechanical item? Send us a photo of the MOT failure report. We assess and repair the fault; your chosen testing station carries out the MOT test or retest. Read more about MOT failure repairs.

Control arms, wishbones and steering faults

Knocking over bumps, play in the steering or a failed ball joint needs inspection before parts are ordered. We assess bushes, wishbones, ball joints and relevant steering components. See our suspension and steering repairs page. Wheel alignment and tracking are not offered here.

Workshop FAQs

Before you book

Can you repair a car that has failed its MOT?

Yes. We repair mechanical MOT failures and advisories, including brakes and suspension. We do not conduct MOT tests or retests; those are carried out at a testing station.

Do you replace control arms and wishbones?

Yes. We inspect suspension and steering faults, including control arms, wishbones, bushes and ball joints, then agree the repair needed. We do not provide wheel alignment or tracking.

Can I book ordinary servicing or brake repairs?

Yes. We handle oil and filter services, brake discs and pads, clutches, diagnostics and other general mechanical work as well as engine rebuilds.

Do you rebuild engines across all makes?

Yes. We handle petrol, diesel, performance and commercial van engine rebuild enquiries across all makes and engine ranges.

Do Ingenium engines use wet timing belts?

No. JLR 2.0 AJ200D/AJ200P engines use timing chains. We assess timing chain, balance shaft, turbo and oil dilution faults.

Which engines do you assess for wet-belt concerns?

Wet-belt-equipped Ford 1.0 EcoBoost, Ford 2.0 EcoBlue and earlier 1.2 PureTech variants. Other versions, including Ford 1.5 EcoBoost, are identified before the timing design is specified.

How long does an engine rebuild take?

Typically 1–3 weeks depending on parts availability and internal damage.

What warranty is included?

Our standard engine-rebuild warranty is 6 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. The written terms for your job confirm the cover and any variation.
