Discuss your engine rebuild

We handle engine rebuild enquiries across all makes, models and engine ranges, from everyday petrol cars to diesel SUVs and commercial vans. Quick Solution Vehicles LTD combines general mechanical repairs with major engine assessment in Sparkbrook, Birmingham. The engine code, failure cause and internal condition determine the repair, not just the make badge. Call or WhatsApp your registration and symptoms to discuss the next step, including a non-runner needing recovery.

Jaguar Land Rover (Full Range)

Our JLR coverage includes 2.0 Ingenium AJ200D diesel and AJ200P petrol engines, older 2.2 TD4/SD4 units, 2.7 and 3.0 TDV6/SDV6 diesels, 4.4 SDV8 and 5.0 V8 applications. These are separate engine families with different timing and lubrication layouts. Ingenium enquiries include timing chain, balance shaft, turbo and oil dilution faults; they are not wet-belt engines. TDV6/SDV6 crankshaft and bearing failures require bottom-end assessment, including the condition of the block and lubrication system. We establish whether the damaged components provide a viable basis for rebuilding before agreeing parts and machining.

BMW & MINI (Full Range)

We assess N47, N57, B47 and B57 diesels, together with N20, N43, N46, B38 and B48 petrol engines. MINI Cooper D, Cooper S and JCW enquiries include relevant N14, N18, N47 and B48 variants; the fitted engine is confirmed from the vehicle rather than the model name alone. Chain noise, low compression, oil consumption and heavy knocking call for different checks. We consider timing, head and bottom-end damage where appropriate. Stephen Rawle describes his Cooper D rebuild in the reviews below; the assessment for your car is based on its own condition.

Ford Cars & Commercial Vans

Ford coverage includes 2.0 EcoBlue Transit, Transit Custom and relevant Ranger applications, 2.2 and 3.2 TDCi Duratorq diesels, and 1.0, 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 EcoBoost petrol rebuild enquiries. Timing designs differ across those engines. Wet-belt-equipped 1.0 EcoBoost and 2.0 EcoBlue engines can need belt-debris and oil-pickup assessment as well as internal repair. The three-cylinder 1.5 EcoBoost uses chain-driven camshafts; other EcoBoost versions must be identified separately. Oil starvation, overheating, non-start and internal damage are assessed around the actual engine and its service history.

Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT & Skoda (VAG)

We handle relevant 1.2/1.4/1.5 TSI EA211, 1.8/2.0 TSI EA888, 1.6/2.0 TDI EA189/EA288 and 3.0 TDI V6 engine enquiries. The range includes relevant Amarok, Touareg, Q7 and A6 applications, as well as everyday Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Skoda cars. Early and later engine versions can have different belt, chain, fuelling and emissions arrangements. Oil use, bearing noise, timing concerns and coolant loss therefore need an engine-specific assessment. Confirming the code prevents a superficially similar replacement part or engine from being assumed compatible.

Mercedes-Benz Cars & Commercial Vans

OM651 2.1 CDI, OM654 2.0 diesel and OM642 3.0 V6 CDI enquiries cover relevant C-Class, E-Class, GLC, GLE, Vito and Sprinter applications. Vehicle installations and generations differ, so those examples are not a universal fitment list. We assess timing concerns, head sealing, crankshaft and bearing condition, oil-pressure faults and overheating as relevant to the symptoms. Vans may need a repair decision that accounts for downtime as well as parts and labour. Send the registration, mileage and running status first so the correct engine and initial inspection can be discussed.

Hyundai & Kia

Our diesel coverage includes 1.7, 2.0 and 2.2 CRDi families D4FD, D4HA and D4HB in relevant Tucson, Santa Fe, Sportage and Sorento applications. Petrol enquiries include 1.6, 2.0 and 2.4 GDI engines. Knocking or a failed bearing needs inspection of crankshaft journals, bearing locations and oil supply rather than a bearing-only parts assumption. Bore, piston and head condition can also change the repair scope. We identify the engine version and establish what has caused the failure before deciding the reusable components and any required machining.

Peugeot, Citroën, Vauxhall & Renault/Nissan Vans

We assess earlier wet-belt 1.2 PureTech engines, 1.5 BlueHDi camshaft-chain damage and 2.0/2.2 BlueHDi rebuild enquiries. Newer PureTech designs can use chains, so version matters. Boxer and Relay vans, later relevant Vivaro applications, and 2.3 dCi/CDTi Master, Movano and NV400 enquiries are included in our commercial coverage. The same van name can span different manufacturers and engine generations. Oil-starvation, timing failure and bottom-end repair are planned from the fitted engine, its damage and parts availability. We do not assume that an engine label from another generation identifies the correct repair.

Wet Belt Replacement & Engine Recovery

A worn belt and an engine that has already failed are different jobs. For wet-belt-equipped Ford 1.0 EcoBoost, Ford 2.0 EcoBlue and earlier 1.2 PureTech engines, we assess the timing drive and the consequences of deterioration. Debris can make oil-system inspection important. Where a red oil warning, knocking, seizure or timing loss has occurred, internal assessment may be needed before a simple belt repair is suitable. Ford 1.5 EcoBoost owners can contact us too; we identify the chain or belt arrangement first. Call before arranging delivery of a non-runner.

A rebuild plan for the engine you actually have

The registration, engine code, symptoms and maintenance history guide the first assessment. Further checks and strip-down establish whether the crankshaft, head, block, pistons and bores can be repaired or reused. We discuss diagnosis, parts, machining and labour before the major work proceeds. The original cooling, timing or lubrication failure needs consideration alongside damaged internals. If another engine is the better route, its specification and condition also need checking. A clear decision is more useful than promising every failed engine can be restored with one standard package.

Turnaround, warranty and workshop details

Typical engine-rebuild turnaround is 1–3 weeks depending on parts availability and internal damage. Our standard engine-rebuild warranty is 6 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first; the written terms for each job confirm what is covered and any variation. We are at 56a Stratford Street North, Sparkbrook, Birmingham B11 1BP and open Monday–Saturday 10:00–18:00, closed Sundays. Recovery for suitable major engine work can be arranged at customer cost after discussion with the workshop. We accept debit cards, contactless/mobile NFC and bank transfer. For an initial enquiry, WhatsApp the registration, make/model, fault symptoms and whether the vehicle runs.

Move from engine identification to a repair plan

Once the fitted engine is identified, the rebuild process and replacement options explain the next decisions. Owners of an identified BMW N47 or BMW N57 can use the engine-specific pages. For van enquiries, send the engine details, running status and any previous inspection findings so the appropriate assessment can be discussed.

Diagnosis and timing repair options

When the extent of damage is unclear, start with engine diagnostics and mechanical fault finding before agreeing strip-down work. For chain-driven engines with viable repair options, read about timing chain assessment and replacement. A timing repair and a full rebuild require different scopes; the fitted engine and inspection findings determine the route.

Standard warranty: normally 6 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first; exact cover and any job-specific variation are confirmed in writing. Typical turnaround: 1-3 weeks depending on parts availability and damage extent.

Costs are confirmed after inspection and agreement of the repair scope. Recovery for suitable engine work can be arranged at customer cost.

Workshop FAQs

Before you book

Do you only rebuild BMW and JLR engines?

No. We handle rebuild enquiries across all makes and engine ranges, including petrol, diesel, performance cars and commercial vans.

Can you repair an engine after oil starvation?

We assess the internal damage and the original oil-supply fault. Viability depends on the components, castings and repair scope found.

Do commercial van engines have the same turnaround?

Typical rebuild time is 1–3 weeks, but parts availability, internal damage and the agreed scope affect the actual schedule.

Can you quote a complete rebuild before opening the engine?

We can discuss the assessment route, but a final rebuild quote depends on confirmed damage and the agreed parts and machining requirements.
