DPF, EGR and Emissions Investigation in Birmingham

Diagnosis for DPF, EGR, boost, sensor and poor running faults.

Emissions faults are often misdiagnosed. We investigate DPF, EGR, boost, sensor and poor running issues so the repair is based on evidence rather than guesswork.

Understand why a diesel warning returns

A DPF fault can be a consequence of another problem rather than a failed filter alone. Exhaust pressure readings, temperature sensors, EGR operation, boost leaks and engine running condition can affect the assessment. We review relevant codes and live data alongside how the vehicle is used. Frequent short journeys may matter, but they are not proof of the cause. A soot-loaded filter, accumulated ash and a damaged substrate require different decisions. We explain the evidence before suggesting cleaning, component replacement or a further mechanical investigation.

Regeneration, fuelling and oil condition

A regeneration is appropriate only when the engine and after-treatment system can safely support it. Excess soot loading, sensor faults, overheating or oil dilution may need attention first. Repeated unsuccessful regeneration can be relevant to diesel entering the engine oil, so a rising oil level deserves investigation rather than simply topping up or clearing codes. Turbo condition, injector performance and intake leaks may also contribute to smoke or poor running. The checks depend on the engine and stored data, with a repair plan based on the fault rather than a single generic treatment.

A repair route that retains emissions equipment

Our work focuses on diagnosis and repair of the fitted DPF, EGR and related systems. We do not use deletion as the advertised solution to a warning light. For an MOT emissions failure, send the report and any existing diagnostic results so we can relate the measured problem to the vehicle's symptoms. After a repair, relevant data and warning behaviour are checked, and a road test may be needed where safe. Tell us if the vehicle has previously been modified, because altered software or missing components can change what must be investigated.

Workshop FAQs

Before you book

Will a forced regeneration fix every DPF warning?

No. The underlying cause, filter condition and safe operating conditions need to be established first.

Can DPF problems affect engine oil?

On some diesels, repeated interrupted regeneration can contribute to fuel dilution. A rising level or contaminated oil needs assessment.

Do you offer DPF or EGR deletion?

Our service is diagnosis and repair of emissions equipment, with the repair route agreed after assessment.
