Start with the exact failure wording
An MOT report separates dangerous and major defects from minor defects and advisories. Send the complete wording or a clear photograph before booking a repair. A suspension-joint failure, brake imbalance and emissions failure call for different inspection and parts planning. Advisories may be worth addressing while relevant parts are accessible, but they should not be confused with the defects preventing a pass. We explain the repair scope and associated findings, rather than assume every item on the report needs the same immediate replacement.
Mechanical defects and related checks
We handle mechanical rectification such as brakes, suspension and steering components, exhaust faults and relevant engine or emissions concerns. The reported defect guides the work, and we check whether another condition has contributed to it. A worn bush, seized caliper or leaking component may require attention alongside the obvious failed part. For an emissions failure, a diagnostic assessment may be needed before a parts quote is meaningful. Send details of any recent work or previous retest so the workshop can understand what has already been attempted.
Repair planning and your retest
Quick Solution Vehicles is a mechanical workshop rather than an MOT test centre. Once the agreed work is completed, you arrange the retest with your chosen testing station. Retest requirements and any fee depend on the test centre and timing, so confirm these with them. A vehicle with a dangerous defect may need recovery instead of being driven to us. Call before organising transport, especially if the car is already at another garage. We can then plan access, assessment and the appropriate booking around the vehicle's condition and the work required.
Which part failed the MOT?
We can assess mechanical failures involving brakes and suspension, control arms and steering, as well as other workshop repairs. Please send the actual failure report. We are not an MOT testing station and cannot issue the retest certificate.
Workshop FAQs
Before you book
Can you carry out my MOT test?
We rectify mechanical failures and advisories. The MOT and retest are carried out by a testing station.
Do all advisories need immediate replacement?
No. Their condition and urgency need assessment. We explain the findings so additional work can be prioritised.
What should I send before booking?
Send the registration and complete MOT failure report, including any dangerous defects and relevant recent repairs.
